‘PULSECHECK’ beta debuts to rave reviews
Toronto, Ontario – Along with the University Health Network, the Rotman School of Management, and a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of graduate students from the University of Toronto, ExperiencePoint announced today the forthcoming launch of ‘PulseCheck’, an innovative healthcare simulation.
“PulseCheck focuses on achieving unprecedented efficiencies in healthcare at the level of the service provider,” said James Chisholm, ExperiencePoint co-founder. “Simulation participants gain realistic experience in healthcare transformation so they can successfully initiate change back on the job.”
Participants are tasked with streamlining and integrating services at a hospital that has unacceptable wait-times and low patient satisfaction levels. After a patient’s near death in the ER waiting room, the hospital’s CEO provides a budget and timeline for comprehensive change. Working in teams, participants must operate within these parameters to implement improved services while simultaneously winning the support of the associated doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrators.
“PulseCheck represents an innovative approach to teaching best practice,” explained Chisholm, “but just as innovative was the unique approach to developing the simulation.” ExperiencePoint now offers EXPRESS™, a simulation building tool that enables content experts to author their own cutting-edge simulations. The subject matter for PulseCheck was researched, synthesized and ultimately produced by a talented team of graduate students, each from a different faculty at the University of Toronto. The students were hired by the Centre for Innovation in Complex Care at UHN and worked together over an intensive nine-week period to create PulseCheck. ExperiencePoint not only provided EXPRESS™, it also coached the students through the simulation development process. The end result is a great healthcare teaching tool and a powerful case for multi-disciplinary collaboration.
