Lakeview Simulation Teaches Change Leadership in Health Care

Toronto, Ontario – ExperiencePoint announced today the launch of ExperienceChange Lakeview (“Lakeview”), a change leadership simulation for health care developed in partnership with the Collaborative for Health Sector Strategy at the University of Toronto.

“Present economic conditions challenge all organizations to do more and more with less and less,” says ExperiencePoint co-founder James Chisholm. “Lakeview is timely as it helps leaders to manage the change to a lean-focused organization.”

Lakeview challenges participants to reduce patient wait times and increase patient satisfaction in a hospital emergency department. Given a limited budget and a deadline, participants must interview key internal and external stakeholders, introduce lean management practices, and apply change management best practices to build stakeholder buy-in for lasting, successful change.

“The Lakeview simulation allows participants, from the novice to the most experienced, to test their theories and intuition in safe—but realistic and demanding—situations. Short of experimenting with change in the ‘real world’, the ExperiencePoint simulations are the most effective learning tools I’ve used in 22 years of teaching,” says Brian Golden, Sandra Rotman Chaired Professor in Health Sector Strategy, The Rotman School of Management, The University of Toronto.

ExperienceChange simulations are often implemented as full or half day workshops, with participants working in teams and engaging in group decision-making to prioritize change tactics.
