Web debrief update – September 2009

Facilitators! Have you logged into http://login.experiencepoint.com lately? We’ve heard a lot of feedback on our web-based debrief and we’ve tried to make the information easier to digest and help explain the result of learners’ decisions. Your feedback is an important part of this process and we appreciate your help in improving the tools available to our facilitators.

When you login, here’s what you’ll find in the Facilitate tab:

  • Selecting a session is the same. Once you’ve selected a session, head over to Simulation Stats.

  • The summary information for user games (Simulation Stats) has been updated to show more than just the number of games started and the number of games completed. As with team games, you’ll be able to see the number of decisions, buy-in level achieved, leadership score, and average effectiveness for each user’s best game.
  • Selecting a specific game to debrief is the same. Once you’ve selected a game to view, you’ll see where we’ve tried to make the information easier to digest. Basic information such as last save date, final buy-in, leadership score, budget used, budget remaining, time used and time remaining are the same.
  • We’ve heard that listing tactics multiple times with different information can be confusing. We present only one list of decisions – but it’s a powerful one. All information related to each tactic has been consolidated into a comprehensive Details section, which can be found by clicking “More” on the tactic’s right-hand side.
  • The Details section tells you everything about a tactic: its description and rationale, including the optimal stage of implementation, when it was implemented, whether it was a good decision, and for execution tactics, how effectively it was implemented, including an updated breakdown highlighting the user’s choice among the available options. You can also view this information for all tactics at once by clicking “See All” at the top of the “Details” column.
  • This updated presentation can also be accessed by your learners through the “Debrief a Game” link in the simulation website.
  • You’ll also see this presentation in the Compare tool, which we’ve also tried to make clearer. After selecting your criteria and pressing “Go”, you’ll see the list of tactics organized by optimal stage of implementation is still the same. You can still click through to see which stages teams implemented a specific tactic. We’ve heard that it can be hard to identify which implementation is optimal, so to make that easier, we’ve highlighted very effective implementations (green), somewhat effective implementations (gray) and ineffective implementations (red). We also heard that the zeros were distracting, so we made them less intrusive by graying them out.
  • When you click through to see which teams implemented a tactic, you’ll find the same presentation of tactic information. Again, you can view the details section for all teams by clicking “See All” at the top of the “Details” column.
  • We’ve also heard that the Compare tool needed a “Back” button to show the tactics list organized by stage, so we added one.
  • Finally, we’ve heard that the Compare tool would be useful for individual user games. We plan to include this in a future update.
