It's About Learning by Doing

Our impact is growing not just because we create great innovation and change experiences for great people, but also because we’re leading a profound secular trend in the training industry. It’s not about simulations, or gamification, or mobile learning or other hot learning topics. It’s deeper than that. It’s about learning by doing.

Over the last 20 years we’ve participated in many of the learning discussions of the day: online vs. in-class; self-directed vs. facilitated; individual vs. team-based; synchronous vs. asynchronous learning; game-based learning; mobile learning, MOOCs, etc.

These discussions were usually catalyzed by exciting – and sometimes ultimately ephemeral – new technologies. But they remained focused on the bottom of the learning hierarchy – learning by passive methods of listening, watching, or reading.

The bigger, steadier trend over this period is the confluence of these technologies and methods to realize a powerful form of learning by doing – a deeper understanding derived from realistic experiences that spare people the real pains of the School of Hard Knocks.

The best learning experiences today reflect this – they are intensive and engaging “roll-up-your-sleeves” experiences with on-going learning supports to help people make an even greater impact in their work.  As we have since our inception, ExperiencePoint remains intensely focused on helping great partners and clients bring this type of learning to business professionals. Thanks to you, 32,000 more people this year will be better prepared to effect change and make a difference.
